“With its work over the last year, EMN joins an elite crew of Oakland artists—Boots Riley (Sorry to Bother You), Daveed Diggs (Blindspotting), Ryan Coogler (Black Panther), Fantastic Negrito and others—who are changing national and global cultural conversations with their work.”
"With machete-sharp vocalists fronting a miniature orchestra tuned by a maestro with a passion for boom bap, they represent a distinct future for the genre that diehards of all stripes should be thoroughly excited for."
EMN's Artistic Director is currently working on a new commission from National Geographic. It'll be a 20 minute score for full symphony orchestra and choir that'll be completed by the end of this month. It'll be premiered at Davis Symphony Hall in SF on Apr 22 w/ Daveed Diggs, from Hamilton, as the narrator. Shortly after this performance they'll take it on tour.
